This paper calculates the deposited energy and evaluates the stopping range of proton, deuteron, and carbon beams in laser fusion by fast ignition. Results show carbon ions have the highest deposited energy and lowest stopping range but require more energy for acceleration. Deuterons offer a balance of energy deposition and beam gain. Protons have the highest beam gain due to low acceleration threshold, despite the lowest deposited energy. The study highlights that optimal ion selection depends on beam gain, deposited energy, and fuel geometry.
